Fortune Panda appears to be another in the slots series from the casino game software-designing folks at the up-and-coming GameArt. To date (this is written in mid-2017), only two slots games – this and Fortune Lions – are widely available at online casinos. While the Fortune Lions and Fortune Panda slots are somewhat simple and without massive jackpot, both are quite fun with lots of payouts forthcoming.
The Fortune Panda slot is all about the iconic beastie and its natural environment: Flowers, frogs and koi fish cohabit the reels with the lovable big bear. Also in the symbols set are bamboo shots ringed with the classic Chinese holed-coin. (But isn’t the presence of heavy metals detrimental to ecosystems such as those in the bamboo forest?) And the yin-yang symbol is thrown in as well because Eastern philosophy.
The lower-paying symbols are, naturally, the A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 lot, because poker, pinochle and the like are all the rage with most sleuths of pandas.
Fortune Panda is a 5x4 slots game with 50 paylines. Wager between 1¢ and $5 per payline – and, since these are fixed, you cannot pick ‘n’ choose the lines and why would you anyway?
Naturally, our hero and friend in Fortune Panda, i.e. the panda, is also the wild symbol; this bamboo-munchers substitutes for most other symbols like a good wild should. The yin-yang is the scatter, which kinda makes a weird sort of sense. As in Fortune Lions, the Fortune Panda slot’s scatter only appears in the three leftmost reels of the game.
You bet your Ailuropoda melanoleuca! Land three of those aforementioned yin-yangs in Fortune Panda and you win 10 free spins. As a bonus feature, any wild landed in the bonus round is a sticky wild staying in place until the free spins are complete. And free spins are retriggerable. Nice.
The Fortune Panda slot’s payouts are similar to those in Fortune Lions, which is to say relatively low; this is one of the lower-variance slot machines we’ve ever seen online; lotsa little payouts await the Fortune Panda slot’s player.
While Fortune Panda isn’t a very high-paying game – the most that can be won on a single payline is 100x the payline bet, or 500 coins – the sticky wilds feature in the bonus free spins really buoys the opportunity for a properly large jackpot payout. In theory, you could bag 125,000 coins on a single spin of Fortune Panda, but that’s probably about as rare as the panda will one day soon become…
